Weaknesses in
online learning do arise in a natural scenario, and there are methods to
overcome them. Online learning or e-learning is a platform that is spurred as a
result of the Internet and its global accessibility through many personal
computing devices including desktop, laptop, tablet, Smartphone, and the rest.
Online courses provide unprecedented accessibility to quality learning,
training, and educating people at any stage of their life.
Some weakness are
inherent in the system owing to its infancy in the e-mentoring methodology,
ignorance of learners, and lack of wide-spread accessibility of the Internet in
low strata, low socioeconomic zone, rural areas, and other backward community
where there is no electricity, no computers, and no Internet, which can be
easily overcome in the near future. Governments all over the world are taking
utmost measures to provide these basic amenities to the people who have fewer
privileges and need help and support to obtain basic education. These measures
will thereby result in social upliftment, equality, and justice.
The threats that
hinder the progress of online programs include unavailability of students,
inaccessibility of online courses, no connectivity to the Internet, limited
access time, and many more. Moreover, users of the online learning program must
be a computer literate, the current technology must be cent-per-cent reliable,
and students should be self-disciplined to study online. These concerns can be
minimized by doing pedagogical research in teaching and learning, charging no
or low cost for the Internet access for educational sites, providing computer
literacy program throughout the world so that people can become self-reliant in
studying by their own.
